Have you ever thought why a person would rather stay in a painful relationship with an abusive or cheating partner than to accept the pain of losing them? It all starts from childhood. Feeling unloved, abandoned or betrayed as a child yet not being able to deal with the pain, stays within and grows strong.
To this person, being in an abusive relationship is still better than no relationship. No relationship means being alone; she/he needs to face that injured part of them from the past. Therefore, they continue to hang on.
Another reason may be that the current bad relationship unconsciously reminds them of the past (familiar) so they try to deal with it now the way they wish they had dealt with the relationship from their infancy.
The best thing to do is to be kind to yourself. To love yourself means you love your inner child and understand her fears, feel the pain she once felt, cry over it and then let go. After that, you will no longer feel the need to stay with a bad partner because you know your worth.
The most important relationship we will ever have is with the inner child within us. We need to become a grown adult and a good parent to our inner child. Help our inner child develop from the point where he or she was abandoned and stopped growing. If we can’t master our relationship with our inner child, we won’t be able to have a healthy relationship with someone else.
Meditation Is the Beginning of the Journey to Your Spiritual Growth Process
Practice the following meditation often for healing your wounded inner child:
Breath in-Breath out.
Go deep within and notice the peaceful, wholesome, loving child that you abandoned and forgot about (your inner child).
Notice that she’s still as joyful, loving, and strong as before.
She slowly walks toward you.
She’s been waiting for this moment for a very long time.
She knows you very well!
She loves you unconditionally. She loves you even though you left her when she needed you the most. She understands that you didn’t have a choice and were forced to leave her behind.
Her only wish is to grow from where she stopped. She has a lot to share with you.
Listen…to her concerns.
Hold her close. Pull the energy she’s offering into your energetic system and tell her that you will never leave her again.
Be open to receive her love and guidance and stay with her for as long as you want. Connect to her deeply till she starts growing within you.
